Ramie Colson Jr. is in fourth place after the first day of the FLW Costa Series stop on Lake Barkley.
The Cadiz angler, known for his strength in fishing near rock ledges, used that knowledge to his advantage to bag five fish weighing 21 pounds. Jake Lawrence of Paris, Tenn. leads with 28-pounds, 13-ounces. Hensley Powell of
Whitwell, Tenn. is second (23-3), and Benton’s Brandon Hunter (22-1) is third after the first round.
The Costa Series is the second-highest level behind the FLW Tour. Colson doesn’t fish on the series full-time because of his FLW Tour schedule, but still sits in 102nd place in the point standings.
Ramie’s son Douglas sits in 36th place in the co-angler division after catching 6-pounds, 12-ounces Thursday.
There are nearly 300 anglers competing on Lake Barkley this weekend. The second round continues Friday.
