Hopkins County Central’s game plan kept Hopkinsville off the scoreboard for over 67 minutes.
But Hoptown broke through for a goal in the 68th minute and downed the Storm 1-0 in the 2nd Region tournament quarterfinal matchup Wednesday night in Henderson.
Hopkinsville (16-7-1) advances to face host Henderson County (15-4-3) in Thursday night’s semifinals.
Hopkins Central (5-12-3) gave the Tigers fits for much of the night with its defensive-minded approach — at times dropping as many as 10 people into the box.
But Hoptown got all the scoring it would need in the 68th minute, when Tyler Greenwell ran onto a long ball from Welby Horn.
Greenwell beat a defender to the ball, made a move in the box to free himself up, then beat the goalkeeper to the left side for the evening’s only tally.
Hopkinsville got off 16 shots in the contest.
Meanwhile, Xavier Bussell had to make just one save at the other to pick up the shutout in the net.
Madisonville-North Hopkins and University Heights Academy will meet in the first semifinal game Thursday at 6:00. Hopkinsville and Henderson will square off at 8:00.
The semifinal winners will then meet Friday night for the 2nd Region championship.
