One bad inning was enough to do in Trigg County Tuesday as the Lady Wildcats fell 6-1 to Webster County at the Complex.

The bad inning overshadowed an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel between Trigg’s Hannah Colbert and Webster’s Gracie Scott. Colbert allowed five hits and one earned run. She struck out 10 and walked four. Scott allowed three hits and one earned run. She struck out seven and didn’t walk any.

Trigg got on the board first when Colbert hit a home run to left centerfield in the second inning.

Webster countered with five runs in the top of the third, taking advantage of two mental errors and one fielding error by the Lady Wildcats.

Rylee Warford drew a one out walk ahead of a Karlie Keeney single. Hadlee Carter put down a sacrifice bunt, but Trigg was slow to cover first base which loaded the bases. After pop out, Kayla Yates hit a ground ball to Logan Darnall, who’s lone play was to third. However, her throw hit Keeney and allowed Warford to score and tie the game.

Kerstin Braden and Madison Durbin both followed with two-run singles to complete the five-run inning.
Webster added a run in the seventh inning on a squeeze bunt by Carter.

Aside from Colbert’s homer, Scott only allowed a second inning single to Raelyn Marlowe and a third inning single to Phelan Dossett. She retired the final 13 batters she faced.

Braden had two hits and two RBIs for Webster County, who improved to 22-5 on the season.

Trigg County fell to 15-13 on the season and will host Hickman County Friday.
