Mashea Glover homered and had five RBIs while Majah Hollowell delivered a grand slam as Caldwell County’s girls rolled to a 17-4 victory at Murray on Friday.
A seven-run third inning was the big frame for the Lady Tigers, who scored in every at-bat during the five-inning contest.
Madi Choate doubled home a run as part of a three-run first inning for Caldwell.
Glover had an RBI double in the second to make it 4-0.
Glover then slammed a three-run homer to center in the third as Caldwell extended its lead to 11-0.
Murray (6-11) scored its first run in the bottom of the third.
But the Lady Tigers answered with two in the top of the fourth on run-scoring doubles by Choate and Shelby Lane. That made it 13-1.
Murray pulled within 13-4 in the bottom of the fourth but could get no closer.
Hollowell’s grand slam in the fifth made it 17-4.
Katie Franklin was the winning pitcher for Caldwell, which has won seven of its last nine games and is now 9-10.
Franklin allowed three earned runs on seven base hits. She struck out seven and walked two.
At the plate, Glover finished 2-for-3 with five runs batted in. Hollowell was 2-for-3 and knocked in four. Choate went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Haley Stiles and Allie Felker were each 2-for-3 with an RBI and Emma Staples had a 2-for-5 day and knocked in a run.
Kyra Shutt and Calli Carver were both 2-for-3 for Murray. Livy Bogard had a triple and three RBIs.
