Former Caldwell County star Jaylen Boyd scored twice and Lindsey Wilson used two touchdowns in the final 3 minutes to rally past St. Francis (Ind.) 30-26 on Saturday in Columbia, Ky., in the first round of the NAIA Championship Series.

Boyd, who ran for 115 yards on just 14 carries, scored on a 55-yard run in the first quarter as Lindsey Wilson went up 9-0.

However, the No.6-ranked Blue Raiders found themselves trailing 26-16 late in the fourth quarter.

Boyd’s 1-yard scoring run helped Lindsey Wilson pull within 26-23 with just 2:39 to play.

After the defense forced a punt, the Blue Raiders drove down the field and got a 6-yard touchdown carry from quarterback Cameron Dukes with just 47 seconds remaining in the contest.

An interception in the closing seconds helped Lindsey Wilson finish off the comeback against No. 11 St. Francis and improve to 11-0 on the season.

Boyd also caught five passes for 41 yards in the contest.

Lindsey Wilson football is set to travel No. 3 Kansas Wesleyan next weekend in the NAIA Football Championship Series Quarterfinals, NAIA officials announced on Saturday night.

Kickoff time has yet to be determined but will take place on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
