Heritage Christian Academy will look for rebound season with the first priority to regain the KCAA girls’ Region I title.

The Lady Warriors were 12-12 last year and advanced to the semifinals of the KCAA State Tournament where a fourth loss to Oak Ridge ended their season.

Coach Matt McGowan returns three starters from last year’s team, including the team’s second-leading scorer Kinley Deason.  Her buzzer-beating shot against North Hardin Christian sent the Lady Warriors into the KCAA semifinals last year.

Junior Abbi Bullock and senior Meredith Crunk also return in the Lady Warrior backcourt.  They will be tasked with trying to replace the bulk of the scoring left behind by the graduation of 1,000-point scorer Chelsea Dortch.

Seniors Logan Gibson and Ashton Croft return in the front court after seeing a lot of floor time for the Lady Warriors last year.

Alie Boyd and Maggie Britton also provide some returning experience.

The HCA roster has five seniors and three juniors, but some underclassmen could see some key minutes this year.  McGowan says the Lady Warriors will rely on defense early in the season until their offense begins to click.

Heritage Christian opens their season Tuesday at home against Franklin Road.
