At one point, Hannah Sumner may have figured that her collegiate athletic career might have been in softball. However, when Sumner made the decision some years back to take up the sport of golf, her path for the future was changed. During a ceremony Thursday afternoon at Christian County High School, Sumner signed her letter of intent to play college golf at Lindsey Wilson College.
LWC, in Columbia, Kentucky, is an NAIA school, competing in the Mid-South Conference, along with teams that include Campbellsville University, Georgetown College, Thomas More University, University of Pikeville, University of the Cumberlands, Cumberland University, Life University, and Shawnee State University.
Sumner was named to the All-Region Golf Team as announced by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association. She shot a 12-over 83 to finish 8th in the Region Two Tourney in 2019, making her the first Lady Colonel to qualify for the state tourney in 13 years. Sumner finished tied for 75th at the state tourney and missed making the cut by a single shot.
