Caldwell Volleyball Hits 20 Wins for 14th Straight Year

Caldwell County has reached 20 wins for the 14th straight season after outlasting Ballard Memorial in a five-set battle on Senior Night in Princeton.

The Lady Bombers (20-14) pushed the Lady Tigers to the limit before Caldwell secured a 22-25, 25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 15-11 decision at the CAB gym.

The Lady Tigers are now 20-11, heading into home games against Christian Fellowship School and Warren East on Saturday. Those will be the final matches of the regular season for Caldwell, which will host the 7th District tournament next week.

The Lady Tigers got 27 kills, two blocks and 22 digs from Olivia Mitchell along with 19 kills, four blocks and five digs from Abby Griggs in the win over the Lady Bombers.

Senior Savanna Tays recorded 38 set assists, a kill and five digs while Kendyll Prowell had 23 set assists, five kills, four digs and four aces.

Mary Tays totaled seven kills and two digs. Adi Sullenger had 20 digs, three aces and a kill. Savannah Scott recorded two kills and a block. Senior Addi Perkins added seven digs.

Caldwell is now 5-0 all-time against Ballard.

The Lady Tigers also took the junior varsity game on Tuesday, beating Ballard 18-21, 21-18, 21-8.

Mary Tays had six kills and eight digs in that match while Savannah Scott had five kills, five ace and a block. Adi Sullenger added 20 set assists and five kills.

Prior to Tuesday’s varsity match, Caldwell honored three seniors — players Savanna Tays and Addi Perkins along with manager Sid Nichols.
