
The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers took a big step towards locking down the #2 seed in the 8th District volleyball tournament Monday night, however, it was a step that did not come easy. The Lady Tigers traveled to Fort Campbell and fought their way through a tough four set match, ultimately coming away with the 3-1 win.
The first set of the match gave an indication of what kind of night it would be. Hopkinsville won the first set, but had to go extra to get the win, taking it 26-24. The second set was another battle that came down to the wire, but the Lady Tigers were able to hold on and get the 25-22 win to go up 2 sets to none.
The Lady Falcons made a move to get back in the match in the 3rd set. Fort Campbell took a 25-23 win to make it 2-1 headed into the fourth set.
The fourth set was another battle down to the wire. This time it was the Lady Tigers taking the set, and closing out the match, with a 25-21 win.
In her second match back, Hailey Hallmark had another big night for Hoptown, finishing with seven kills and six blocks. Hope Pace added seven kills and four blocks for the Lady Tigers.
The win, which was the second district win in a row for Hopkinsville, improved the Lady Tigers to 6-9 overall, and 3-2 in the district. Fort Campbell drops to 3-14 and 0-6.
