The Christian County Lady Colonels finished out their appearance in the 2019 Apollo Summer Slam on a positive note. The Lady Colonels took down Whitesville Trinity in straight sets to win the 3rd place match in the bronze bracket. Christian County finished Saturday with a 2-1 mark, after dropping their first two matches Friday evening.

The Lady Colonels began the day Saturday matched up against Hancock County. Christian County had trouble getting things going in the early going, as the Lady Colonels dropped the opening set 25-8. The second set gave indication of just how much heart this team might have. With their backs against the wall, the Lady Colonels battled for every point and ended up wining the second set 28-26 to force the deciding third set.

Again, it was a battle, and, again, it was the Lady Colonels who found the way to win, taking the third set 17-15 to close out the match.

With the win, Christian County advanced to take on 2nd Region rival Madisonville. The Lady Colonels were competitive through the match, but ended up falling in straight sets 25-19 and 25-20.

That set up the match for the 3rd place game in the bracket between Christian County and Whitesville Trinity. The two teams battled through two close, intense sets, with the Lady Colonels finding a way to win at the end of both, taking the match 25-23 and 26-24.

Christian County finishes the week with a record of 2-4. They will return to action Thursday when they go on the road for an 8th District matchup at Fort Campbell.
