Coming off their trip to the Bluegrass State Games last weekend, the Trigg County Wildcats hosted Madisonville in their only home scrimmage before the season opener. The Maroons controlled the tempo for most of the game, and used two early second half goals to pick up the 2-0 win at the Trigg County Recreation Complex.
While the Maroons were on the attack most of the night, the Wildcats were able to hold them at bay during the first half. The half ended with the match sitting at a 0-0 tie.
Madisonville finally broke through with two goals in just over four minutes early in the second half. The first came as the result of a throw in from the right hand side. The second was the result of a penalty kick after the Wildcats were called for a foul in the box.
One of the problems for the Wildcats on the night was a failure to get shots when they had the opportunity. Head coach Josh Nichols spoke about that problem after the match.
