The girls’ athletic programs at Madisonville, Henderson County, and University Heights showed the largest increase in wins among Second Region schools from 2018 to 2019 across their four main team sports.
Madisonville saw an increase from 59 wins in their four major team sports – soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball – in the 2017-18 school year to 83 in 2018-19. Their 83 wins were the second most in the Second Region behind Henderson County’s 86. Henderson increased their win total by 22 from last year.
Led by a 25-win volleyball season, University Heights Academy saw their win total increase from 39 to 54 – the third largest increase in the region.
Crittenden County (12) and Lyon County (11) also showed a double-digit increase in wins in 2018-19.
Christian County had the fourth most wins in the region with 70, which was 13 fewer than last year. Caldwell County ranked fifth in wins with 65, which was 10 fewer than 2017-18.
Union County showed the largest drop in wins, going from 32 in 2017-18 to 16 wins last season. Trigg County (13), Christian County (13), and Livingston Central (12) also showed declines in wins.
Henderson County, Caldwell County, Madisonville, Hopkins County Central, and Christian County were the only schools to post double-digit wins in all four sports. Lyon County, which doesn’t play volleyball, posted double-digit wins in the other three sports.
