Two cowgirls from Trigg County wrapped up a successful week at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo in Huron, South Dakota.
Margaret Rogers had her best finish in barrel racing where she finished 69th out of 179 competitors. In one heat she finished 13th. Barrel Racing has each rider run a cloverleaf pattern with the fastest time winning.
She finished 98th out of 167 entries in goat tying (best heat finish 16th) and 105th in pole bending.
Bailey Shaughnessy finished 124th in pole bending and 138th in barrel racing. Shaughnessy’s best finish in the barrel racing was a tenth place finish in a heat and 14th in pole bending.
The National Junior High Finals Rodeo is the world’s largest junior high rodeo and features over 1,000 cowboys and cowgirls from 44 states and three foreign countries.
Rogers and Shaughnessy represented Team Kentucky at the annual event.
