Lyon County Post 68 played long ball in their 10-0 win over Shelbyville Saturday, smacking five home runs off Post 39 pitching.
Cameron Dean hit the first of his two homers – a two-run shot – in the first inning. Gabe Board followed to give the Aces a quick 3-0 lead. Dean’s former Livingston Central teammate, Cameron Head, squeezed home a fourth run in the inning.
Dean added a solo shot in the nearly identical spot in right center field in the second inning for a 5-0 Aces lead. He would double in the fourth inning and later score on a wild pitch. He finished the night 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
Davis Corbett smoked a pitch over the left field fence for a two-run shot and a 9-0 Aces’ lead. The Union County graduate later ended the game with a solo homer to center to invoke the mercy rule. Corbett was 3-for-4 with three runs knocked in.
Board also contributed to the 10-hit effort with two hits and two runs scored.
That was more than enough offense for Cade Duncan, who pitched a two-hit shutout. The Union County graduate struck out 10 and walked none in six innings.
The win was the second for Post 68 at the Chappel Allen Invitational at Lee S. Jones Park. The Aces improved to 3-1 on the season. They are scheduled to host Shelbyville Post 37 Sunday afternoon and one followed by the 3 o’clock contest with Rockport Post 254.
