
Lyon County was held to just two base hits in a 2-0 loss to Henderson County in the first round of the 2nd Region baseball tournament.
Meanwhile, Henderson scratched out single runs in the fourth and seventh innings to advance to the semifinals.
The Colonels (21-15) got six strong innings from junior Lake Williams, who struck out seven and walked three before getting relief help from Jake Murdach. Murdach pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save.
Lyon freshman Jackson Shoulders also pitched well. He went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five and walking four.
Henderson’s first run came in the top of the fourth inning when it loaded the bases with one out on two singles and a walk. Colton Evans picked up the RBI when he grounded into a fielder’s choice at short.
The Colonels added an insurance run in the seventh. Spencer Bartlett singled to lead off the inning. He stole second and third, then scored on an error to make it 2-0.
Gabe Board had both of Lyon’s hits, going 2-for-3.
Bryce Willett went 2-for-4 for Henderson.
Lyon finishes the season with a school-record for wins, going 24-11.
