The Trigg County girls relay team took the top spot in the 4×400 and posted 2nd-place finishes in two other events to finish 4th overall, while the boys used a strong night on the track from Jaquellus Martin and a 3rd-place effort by Austin Mitchell in the discus to take home fifth.
The team of Dede Barbee, Trinity Cavanaugh, Iyanna Grubbs and Lexie Wright closed the meet with a 1st-place finish in the 4×400 with a time of 4:20.00, while the same group ran 2nd in the 4×200 with a 1:51.05. Rylee Bush, Lexi and Livi Ricks and Cavanaugh also took 2nd in the 4×800, finishing behind Paducah Tilghman with a time of 10:35.10. Finally, Grubbs, Lexi Ricks, Wright and Bush earned a medal in the 4×100, running 4th with a 55.59.
Individually, Barbee ran 2nd behind Paducah Tilghman’s Valesha Watson in the 400M, posting a 1:03.30, while finishing 5th in the 200M. Livi Ricks took 2nd in the 3200M with a 13:26.08 and Lexi Ricks took 3rd in the 1600M with a 6:12.28, while Riley Brame finished 4th in the 300M hurdles with a 52.20, followed by Bush in 6th with a 56.85.
Martin was instrumental for the boys, finishing 2nd just behind Tilghman’s Jayden Freeman with a 22.70 in the 200M and 3rd in the 100M with a 11.36, followed by Kyron Grubbs in 5th at 11.76. Martin also joined Grubbs, Tyler Freeman and Carson Woodall to finish 4th in the 4×400 with a 3:43.69.
Austin Cavanaugh ran 3rd in the 1600M, posting a 5:09.49, followed by Ethan Futrell in 6th with a 5:24.29. Cavanaugh also had a 2nd-place finish in the 3200M nullified after he was disqualified because one of his teammates was in an area of the infield that was off-limits during the event.
In the field events, Austin Mitchell threw 114-04 in the discus to take 3rd, while finishing 6th in the shot put with a 36-11.00. Shaun Terrell earned a medal in the triple jump with a distance of 37-06.00, good enough for sixth.
