Lyon County two-sport star Gabe Board will play baseball at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky.
Board, who plays shortstop and pitches for the Lyons, signed with the NAIA school Monday afternoon in a ceremony in the Lyon County High School library.
Board is expected to be an infielder for the Blue Raiders, who recently finished their 2019 season with an overall record of 8-34. The Mid-South Conference institution did not qualify for the league’s postseason tournament.
Board is leading the Lyons this season with a .407 batting average. He has three home runs and 20 RBIs while leading the team in runs scored with 37. Half of his 32 base hits have gone for extra bases.
On the mound, Board is 1-0 with a save and a 5.34 earned run average.
Board has helped lead the Lyons to a 22-10 record this season and the No. 1 seed for this week’s 5th District tournament.
On the basketball court this past season, Board averaged 14.9 points and 5.0 rebounds a game as Lyon went 21-10 and won the 5th District championship before falling to Henderson County in the first round of the 2nd Region tournament.
