The team of Shelton Cansler and Jordan Hammett led Caldwell boys tennis at the regional tournament on Monday night in Henderson County, advancing to Tuesday’s semifinal match with UHA’s second-seeded duo of Brady Bilyeu and Dylan Edmonson.
In singles play, Ryan Hammett fell 3-6, 3-6 to Madisonville’s Josh Plain in the opening round, while Billy Wallace lost a tight first set 6-7, before dropping the second 2-6 to Hopkins County Central’s Rome Fazail.
Brycen Bannister and Michael Henry topped Hopkins Central’s Carson Dossett and Blade Byrum 6-0, 6-2, before falling 2-6, 1-6 to Madisonville’s top-seeded team of Tanner Ray and Seth Daniel.
Cansler and Hammett began their tournament run with a 7-6(4), 6-4 victory over Madisonville, before moving past Hopkins Central’s Matthew Daves and Cobie Pyle 7-5, 6-4.
