Todd County Central scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth inning to beat Hopkins County Central 1-0 in the second game of a doubleheader in Elkton on Friday.
That allowed the Rebels (5-8) to earn a split with the Storm (7-18) in the pair of five-inning contests.
Hopkins Central took the opener 5-1.
In the second game, Austin Rager drew a walk to start the home half of the fourth. He moved to second on a passed ball, then came in to score when Jacob Brandon reached on an error on a ground ball to short.
That proved to be the only run of the contest, as Rager and Hopkins Central’s Luke Rideout hooked up in a pitchers’ duel.
Rager blanked the Storm on just one base hit while striking out five and walking none.
Rideout allowed just the one unearned run on one base hit. He fanned one and walked one.
Dylan Hunt singled for Todd’s only hit.
Logan Scarbrough had a single for Hopkins Central.
In the first game, Austin Scarbrough was 1-for-3 and drove in three runs to lead Hopkins Central to the 5-1 triumph.
He also threw a one-hitter on the mound for the Storm. Scarbrough struck out seven and walked seven.
Austin Rager singled with one out in the bottom of the second for the Rebels’ only base hit in that game.
Hopkins Central never trailed after scoring twice in the top of the first inning. The Storm added another tally in the third, then scored two more in the fifth.
Ethan Putty was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Hopkins Central while Logan Scarbrough also went 2-for-3.
