The new semi-state round of the state high school softball tournament will mean a trip to Bowling Green for the 2nd Region winner. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association announced Wednesday morning that Western Kentucky University would be the host site for the Semi-State 1 game between the winner of the 1st Region and the winner of the 2nd Region.
WKU will also host the Semi-State 2 game between the winner of the 3rd Region and the winner of the 4th Region. Both games are set to take place on Saturday, June 1.
This will be the first year for semi-state play for the state high school softball tournament, which previously had been a double-elimination tourney. The winners of the semi-state games will then move on to the University of Kentucky for the quarterfinal round of play on June 7.
Other semi-state sites include: University of Louisville, Northern Kentucky University, Berea College, and Kentucky Christian University.
