Caldwell County found the sixth inning to their liking, scoring nine times with two outs in the frame to break open a close game and beat Trigg County 15-1 Friday at the Complex. The game was moved from Princeton earlier in the day because of wet field conditions in Princeton.

With the game tied in the top of the sixth, Easton Thompson reached on a two-out error. After two walks, Gabe East singled in a pair of runs to break the tie. Two batters later, Tate VanHooser ripped a two-run single to left to build the Caldwell lead to 5-1. His hit chased Trigg County’s Arlon Butts from the mound. Butts had only allowed five hits through the first five innings.

Cody Holub followed with a single, and Thompson returned to the plate for a second time in the inning. He took a Colton Sumner pitch into the left field corner that plated three runs. Thompson finished the game with three hits and four RBIs.

Caldwell tacked on five more runs in the seventh inning with Oliver Parker, John Davis, Logan Smiley, and Thompson all recording RBI hits in the inning.

Gabe East had three hits and two RBIs for Caldwell, and VanHooser drove in three runs with two hits. Davis also contributed a pair of hits for the Tigers, who won their fifth straight game over Trigg County.

Blake Stallins improved to 2-2 on the mound with the win. He allowed just two hits and struck out two while walking three. He allowed a leadoff double to Trevor Cortner in the first inning. He came around to score on a Haydon Cunningham groundout. Jacob Kent had the other Wildcat hit.

Caldwell County improved to 12-10 with the win. They are scheduled to play at Livingston Central Saturday afternoon.

Trigg County dropped to 10-11 and will host Fort Campbell for a doubleheader Monday.
