To say things have gotten a little wild in the 2nd Region over the past week might be a bit of an understatement. Webster County falls to Madisonville, who had been struggling over the middle part of the season. Christian County falls to Henderson and to a South Warren team they had beaten earlier 20-4. Despite their win over Christian County, Henderson drops tough games to Caldwell County and to Webster County. Setting up for a very interesting end to the 2019 softball season. And, it makes things very, very close, in postions 1-4 in this week’s rankings.

Webster County (20-5) – The Lady Trojans dropped a two run decision at home to Madisonville, but that may say more about the Lady Maroons rebounding than it does about Webster County slipping. They also squeezed out a tough one run decision over Henderson County. For now, they are hanging on to the top spot.

Henderson County (17-5) – The northern Lady Colonels went on the road and picked up a big win over Christian County. That was just a hair of enough margin to move them up to #2 in this week’s Super 7. Their loss at home to Caldwell County almost kept them from the #2 spot, but Christian County’s loss to South Warren enabled the northern Lady Colonels to just eek out a slight lead.

Christian County (21-5) – The southern Lady Colonels dropped a pair of games over the past week. More disconcerting than the home loss to Henderson County, was a ten run loss to a South Warren team they had hammered the last time out. Additionally, the northern Lady Colonels get the late season boost of going on the road and picking up a big win over a regional contender.

Madisonville (13-7) – The Lady Maroons may have righted their ship just in time. They have now picked up seven wins in a row, the last two coming over McCracken County and Webster County. In the win over Webster, Courtney Patterson struck out 11, which should be enough to concern everyone else in the region. Does anybody really want to face them if the Lady Maroons are clicking.

Lyon County (17-9) – While the Lady Lyons lost a pair at the All A Classic and did not make it out of pool play, they did get a taste of postseason tournament action. Keep your eye on Monday night, as Lyon County will host Caldwell County in what should be a dandy between two teams that could be dark horses come tourney time.

Caldwell County (11-10) – The Lady Tigers gave an indication of how much trouble they could be, going on the road and picking up the win over Henderson County. We will get a good chance to see where this team stands coming up, with scheduled games against Christian County, Henderson County, McCracken County, and Marshall County.

Trigg County (13-12) – The Lady Wildcats lost a tough one to Christian County, but beat the other teams over the past several days they were supposed to beat. Good enough to keep them in the #7 spot behind a chaotic week of games for the teams in spots 1-6.
