Todd County Central senior Clayte Weathers yielded a single hit over six and a third innings and the Rebels manufactured 6 runs out of 3 hits for a 6-1 victory over visiting Hart County on Friday night in Elkton. The Rebels earn their first win of the season, moving to 1-4 overall, with a 4th Region All-A meeting with Monroe County scheduled for Saturday.
In the bottom of the first, the Rebels used two walks and a Raider error to load the bases, with Bryce Nolan beating out a two-out grounder to the second baseman to score Austin Rager. Jameson Hunt drew a walk to bring in the second run, before Dylan Hurt came home on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead.
Back-to-back Rebel errors in the top of the third allowed the Raiders to get on the board, but Todd County would restore the 3-run advantage with an RBI single by Preston Rager in the bottom of the fourth.
Tanner Farmer led-off the fifth with a single and would advance to third on a ground out. Farmer came home on another Rebel ground out, before Bryce Nolan caught the Raiders by surprise with a straight-steal of home for the final run.
Weathers allowed an unearned run on a hi,t with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts to earn the victory. Austin Rager got the final two outs, striking-out one.
Devin Roten took the loss for Hart County, lasting four innings while allowing 4 unearned runs on 2 hits, with 4 walks and 9 strikeouts.
