After struggling through the first quarter of the softball season, Fort Campbell ended a couple of long streaks as they beat Dawson Springs 18-7 Tuesday in Dawson Springs.
The win snapped a 37-game losing streak dating back to last year’s win over Fort Knox. The victory was also Fort Campbell’s first in the All-A Classic since 2005.
The Lady Falcons scored three times in the first inning, with two of them scoring on a double by Hannah Carbaugh. The Lady Falcon sophomore finished with four hits and three RBIs in the contest.
Cadie Suding also had four hits for Fort Campbell, while Emma Kaack and Zoe Loveall each had two hits and two RBIs.
Two of Suding’s hits were doubles, while Loveall and Carbaugh each had a triple.
Carbaugh allowed four hits and seven earned runs while striking out 15 batters to get the win.
Trinity Randolph and Jalynn Hooper each doubled for Dawson Springs (0-4), who scored a season-high in runs.
Fort Campbell (1-8) moves into Wednesday’s All-A Classic semifinals at University Heights against Crittenden County at 7pm.
