Lady Lyons Roar Past UHA in All A Softball Regional

The Lyon County Lady Lyons are headed for the semifinal round of the 2nd Region All A Classic softball tournament. The Lady Lyons plated ten runs in the the first inning Tuesday evening as they cruised to a 16-1 three inning win over University Heights.

Lyon County reaped the benefit of early pitching struggles for the Lady Blazers. UHA gave up four walks and six hit batters in the first inning. Calista Collins and Jaiden Cappello each came up with doubles in the inning to drive in runs as well.

Two errors, another walk, and another hit batter allowed the Lady Lyons to scored two more runs in the top of the 2nd inning. The pitching struggles continued for UHA in the 3rd inning as they gave up two more walk and three more hit batters, which set up the Lady Lyons to score four more runs in the inning. Rachel Coursey also connected for a single that scored a run.

For the game, Lady Blazers pitchers gave up seven walks and ten hit batters.

UHA did manage to score a run in the bottom of the 3rd inning, after seeing their first six batters strike out in the game. A walk, a single, and a hit batter set up a sacrifice fly from Regan Pollard for the Lady Blazers to make the score 16-1.

Jaiden Cappello went 1-2, with 4 RBIs, and two runs scored to lead the Lady Lyon offense. Calista Collins was 1-1, with 3 RBIs, and two runs scored. Rachel Coursey went 1-1, with 2 RBIs and two runs scored.

In the circle, Allye Culp and Kaelyn Conger combined to go three innings, giving up no runs on no hits, striking out seven and walking none.
