After waiting a week to get its 2019 season underway, the Todd County Central baseball team fell 12-0 to visiting McLean County Monday night in Elkton. Todd County pitchers issued 13 walks, and the Rebels were outhit 9-1 on the way to their fourth-straight season-opening setback. The Cougars snap a three-game skid to move to 2-3 overall.
McLean County’s AJ Kline was dominant throughout for the win, yielding just a single hit over 5 shutout innings, while striking out 11 and walking one. He also had a hit and an RBI, with Josh Badertscher leading the Cougars with a couple of hits and 3 RBI, and Peyton Caraway knocking in 2.
Todd County’s Clayte Weathers took the loss, walking the first four batters of the game.
The Rebels are on the road on Tuesday to face off with 13th-District rival Logan County.
