Collins’ Homer Caps Lyon County Rally Against Logan County

Calista Collins’ two-run home run in the fifth inning gave Lyon County a 4-3 win over Logan County Saturday in the Franklin-Simpson Lady Cats Classic in Bowling Green.

Tori Schenk opened the fifth inning with a walk, and Collins followed with a shot over the centerfield fence that proved the be the game-winner. It was the second home run in as many days for Collins and her third round-tripper of the season.

Collins tripled in Schenk with Lyon County’s first run in the third inning. Allye Culp’s RBI single in the fourth inning brought the Lady Lyons to within 3-2.

The Lady Lyons had six hits in the game and played one of their better defensive games of the season.  Kaelyn Conger got the pitching win. She struck out 11 batters in five innings. She allowed just seven hit and three earned runs.

Brea Croslin had three hits for Logan County (5-2).

In their second game of the day, No. 2 Warren East limited the Lady Lyons to a Conger single in a 16-1 win. Lyon scored their lone run when Collins reached on a two-base error and scored on a Conger single.

Kelsey Sparks had four hits and four RBIs for Warren East (7-0).

Lyon County (2-5) will host Crittenden County Monday in a rematch of last year’s district championship game won by the Lady Rockets.
