
The Christian County softball team made quick work of the UHA Lady Blazers on Wednesday night, scoring 14 first-inning runs on the way to a 16-0 three-inning victory. The Lady Colonels moved to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in the 8th District, while the Lady Blazers see their record evened at 1-1, with both games played against district competition.
UHA starter Rachel Snyder issued 6 walks and hit 4 batters, with the Lady Colonels using RBI singles by Hope Jones and Madison Winkler and a double by Kelsey O’Daniel that drove in 2, to take a 14-0 lead after the first.
In the second, Emmy Blane doubled in a run and Taylor Shemwell hit an RBI single for the final margin.
Hannah Sumner and O’Daniel combined for the no-hitter, with Sumner working the first two innings while striking out 4 and walking 1, and O’Daniel striking out 2 of the 3 batters she faced.
Seven Lady Colonels collected hits, with Blane going 2-2. Winkler, Shemwell and Jones each drove in 2, while O’Daniel brought in 3.
Christian County will conclude their district play for the season Thursday at Hopkinsville, while UHA will travel to Hopkins County Central Thursday.
