The Hopkinsville baseball team welcomed in Warren East for a scrimmage on Tuesday evening, taking advantage of four Raider errors to earn a 6-1 victory.
Warren East took an early lead with a run in the top of the first, when Ryan Hawkes doubled off Tiger starter Robert Justus to score Sheldon Martin.
In the bottom of the third, the Tigers scored 3 unearned runs on three consecutive Raider errors to take the lead. Hoptown tacked on 2 more in the bottom of the fifth, with Preston Chaudoin stealing home and Ryan Myers scoring when Caleb Bapp hit into a fielder’s choice.
The Tigers added another run in the 7th, when Bapp singled to drive in Jacob Dilday for the final score.
Aaron Crosby struck out 1 and didn’t allow a hit in one inning of work to earn the win, after Justus allowed 2 hits and an earned run while striking out 3 over the first two innings. Layne Jorgensen didn’t allow a hit and struck out 4 over two scoreless innings, with Dilday and Zach Caudill each striking out 3 and not yielding a hit in one inning each.
