David Taylor, former Athletic Director for Heritage Christian Academy, passed away Saturday morning following a lengthy illness, according to a post on HCA’s Facebook page. Taylor had stepped down as HCA’s athletic director in February 2018 due to health concerns. He was diagnosed with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis in 2013.
Taylor took over the position in 1999, after taking up residence in Hopkinsville. During a 2018 interview with YourSportsEdge, Taylor was asked what his favorite part of the job was.
As for his favorite memories in the job, Taylor cited HCA alumnus John Fraley leading the school to a 23-4 overall record and the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association Region 1 Championship.
