A tough end to the regular season for the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Thursday night. In a game that was tight from beginning to end, the Lady Tigers fell on the road to South Warren 60-56.
The game was a bit of a defensive battle early. The Lady Spartans were able to hold Hopkinsville in single digits for the first quarter as they took a 13-9 lead after the first 8 minutes.
Both teams got their offense rolling in the second quarter. South Warren was able to extend their lead to 31-25 headed into the break.
The Lady Tigers tightened up the defense in the 3rd quarter and made a move to get back in the game. Hopkinsville limited South Warren to just eight points during the quarter. Behind the offensive efforts of Donisha Flowers and Yogi McKnight, the Lady Tigers were able to close to within two points by the end of the quarter at 39-37.
Down the stretch, the Lady Spartans were able to knock down enough free throws to hold on for the four point win.
Hopkinsville was paced by Yogi McKnight with 17 points. Jayla Rose added 13, while Donisha Flowers scored 11.
The Lady Tigers wrap up the regular season with a record of 16-14.
