Trigg County used a 14-4 run in the second and third quarters to pull away from Ballard Memorial and claim a 54-39 win over the Bombers in the Wildcats’ final home game of the season.

It was a slow start for both teams, but Trigg County missed eight of their first nine shots and fell behind 10-3. Trigg answered with a 12-0 run as they worked harder to get the ball inside to Kendric Adams and Khyran Vaughn.

The Wildcats began their 14-4 run in the second quarter and built a 22-16 halftime lead as they scored 10 points off seven Ballard Memorial turnovers in the quarter.

Jakobe Bridges hit three 3-pointers to account for Trigg’s first nine points of the second half. He finished with 17 points.

The Wildcats led by as many as 18 points before settling for the final 15-point margin in a game that was chippy throughout.

Kendric Adams added 16 points, and nine rebounds, and Kion Thompson came off the bench to score eight. Vaughn didn’t score but had 10 rebounds as the Wildcats held a 36-29 advantage on the glass.

Kyron Grubbs had four points and three steals, making him just the third Wildcat to get 100 steals in a season joining Lemar Northington and Deonquez Nance.

Ballard Memorial (4-19) got 12 points apiece from Dequin Donlow and Drew Cox.

Trigg County (10-16) will close out their regular season Thursday at Fort Campbell.
