Kyky Tandy has reached a career milestone that only two other Second Region players have accomplished – 3,000 career points.
The University Heights Academy senior and Xavier signee entered Thursday’s All-A Classic first round game with 2,987 points. He scored 18 points on six 3-pointers in the first quarter of UHA’s 61-53 win over Bishop Brossart. He finished the game with 28 points and now has 3,015 career points. For the season, Tandy is averaging 27.5 points a game, third best in the state.
According to the KHSAA, Tandy is the 35th player in state history to score 3,000 career points. Former Mr. Basketball Harry Todd scored 3,567 points in his career at Earlington from 1955-58, which is tops among players in the Second Region. Lyon County’s Ty Rogers scored 3,300 points from 1998-2004.
Among the players Tandy could pass in the next month are former NFL No. 1 pick Tim Couch (Leslie County, 1991-96), current Jacksonville State coach Ray Harper (Breman), and former ABA star Darrel Carrier.
