The Heritage Christian Academy Warriors avenged an earlier-season loss to Hendersonville 64-52 on Monday night, but not before seeing a 21-point 3rd-quarter lead trimmed to 4 midway through the fourth.  The Warriors bounce back from a 34-point loss to Somerset Christian on Saturday to improve to 14-5 overall.

Hendersonville’s Ky Stanley scored all 12 of the Royals first-quarter points, but after a bucket by HCA’s Dakota Brake off an assist by Gavin Fowler, the game was tied at 12 after one.

The Royals had a 1-point advantage at 17-16, before HCA went on a 10-2 run over the last 5 minutes of the half to lead 26-19 at the break.

The Warriors’ run continued into the second half, with a 15-4 stretch capped by 8-straight points from Fowler, to open up a 21- point cushion at 44-23 with 4:20 left in the third.  However, the Royals responded with a 16-3 spurt, with the last points coming on a buzzer-beating 3 by Carson Harris, cutting the Warriors’ cushion to 8.

Landon Schroeder scored to get the Royals within 4 at 51-47 with 3:43 to play, but HCA’s defense tightened to hold Hendersonville to only 5 points the rest of the way.  Josh Jones closed the game with the last 3 of his 11 fourth-quarter points to help seal the 64-52 win.

Fowler finished with 18 to lead the Warriors, followed by 15 from Jones, 13 for Rajah Mills, and Dalton Folz with 10.

Hendersonville’s Staley led all scorers with 19, joined in double figures by Schroeder with 11.
