
Lyon County opens defense of their Second Region All-A Classic crown Monday when they host Dawson Springs in a first round game in Eddyville.
The Lady Lyons (7-8) already own a win over the Lady Panthers – 52-41 on Nov. 29. Allison Murphy had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the win. The Lady Lyons didn’t shoot well but outrebounded Dawson 45-22. Erin Orten had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Dawson Springs.
The Lady Panthers (5-10) are riding a five-game losing streak heading into Monday’s contest.
Lyon County has won three All-A region titles, including last year. Dawson Springs won back-to-back titles in 2002-03.
The winner will meet University Heights (9-6) Thursday in the semifinals at 6pm at Crittenden County High School. UHA beat Lyon County 51-30 on Dec. 21 and beat Dawson Springs 66-40 on Dec. 18. UHA has three All-A region titles, their last coming in 2015.
Monday’s other quarterfinal pits a pair of teams looking for their first win of the season. Livingston Central (0-16) plays Fort Campbell (0-18) at 6pm on post. Livingston’s only All-A region title came in 2016, while Fort Campbell has never won one.
The winner plays Crittenden County (8-6) Thursday at 7:30. Crittenden beat Fort Campbell 57-13 on Nov. 26 and defeated Livingston Central 49-28 on Dec. 14.
The Lady Rockets are tied with Webster County for the most All-A Second Region titles with six.
The championship is Saturday at 4pm in Marion.
