
Dawson Springs held off a late Williamstown rally to beat the host team 83-80 Thursday in the opening game of the Williamstown Holiday Tournament in Grant County.
Dawson jumped out to a 19-12 first quarter lead and extended it to 38-26 by halftime.
The Panthers led by 18 points in the third quarter before Williamstown made a comeback. They outscored Dawson Springs 33-17 in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers hit 7-of-9 free throws in the final frame to keep them at bay.
Skyler Clark led Dawson Springs with 25 points, while Landon Pace added 18 points.
Dawson Springs (5-5) will play Thomas Nelson (7-4) Friday in the semifinals. Thomas Nelson beat Prestonsburg 49-37.
