That was February 1996 and was the last time Trigg County beat Lyon County on their home floor. On Friday, Lyon County beat Trigg County 52-39 to extend that streak to 26 straight games.
The Lady Lyons shot a season-best 42-percent from the field and knocked down a season-high four 3-pointers in the win. The game was back-and-forth early with four lead changes until the Lady Lyons ended the first quarter on a 14-2 run to lead 19-8.
Emily Noffsinger and Logan Darnall hit back-to-back 3-pointers to bring the Lady Wildcats to within 27-24 with 1:08 left in the first half. Allison Murphy ended Trigg’s comeback with consecutive buckets for a 31-26 halftime lead.
Trigg County would not get any closer the rest of the contest.
Murphy finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists for the Lady Lyons, who have won 22 straight over Trigg County overall dating back to 2009.
Calista Collins also scored 13 points, and Cathryn Brown added nine points in her first start of the season.
Noffsinger led Trigg County with nine points, while Bethany Stallons added eight points.
Trigg County (3-6, 2-1) plays at Warren East Saturday in the Class 2A Championships, while Lyon County (3-2, 2-1) plays at Union County Saturday.
