Lane Diuguid proved himself to be a big game pitcher for Christian County in 2018. On Tuesday, the Colonel senior signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Western Kentucky University.
Diuguid committed to Western Kentucky before the start of the 2018 season. After a slow start, he rebounded to post a 3-3 record with a 4.29 ERA. The hard-throwing left-hander struck out 76 in 45 innings. He struck out 11 in firing a no-hitter against Union County in the region championship game.
In his Colonel career, Diuguid is 9-5 with a 3.28 ERA with 141 strikeouts in 91 innings. He is also a career .274 hitter at the plate.
Diuguid figures to be a main component of the Christian County pitching staff that is expected to return mostly intact for 2019 as the Colonels look to repeat as region champions.
