The Todd County Central boys’ basketball team took a 9-point lead into the final quarter Monday night against visiting Ohio County, but the Eagles stormed back to pull out a 53-49 scrimmage victory. The meeting is the final tune-up for the Rebels before they open regular-season play on the road at Clarksville Academy on November 27.
The Rebels started slowly, with senior Jon Calvery accounting for all 6 of their first-quarter points, and trailed 21-17 at the halftime break. Calvery tossed in 6 more in the third quarter, with Austin Rager adding 5, and Todd County outscored the Eagles 20-7 in the frame to take a 37-28 lead into the fourth. However, Ohio County answered with 19 fourth-quarter points to earn victory.
Calvery’s 19 led the way for the Rebels, followed by Rager with 7 and Clayte Weathers with 6. Trey Lewis paced the Eagles with 18, including 9 in the opening quarter on three 3-pointers, followed by Dylan Payton with 16.
