Murray State’s Tevin Brown was honored as the first Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week pick for the 2018-19 season on a vote by the league’s sports information directors.
Out of Fairhope, Alabama, Brown had a fantastic debut at Murray State in the Racers’ 72-54 opening night win at the CFSB Center over the Wright State Raiders.
Brown became just the seventh freshman to start the opening game of the season for Murray State since 2000 and made the most of that honor. He was 6-of-12 from the field, including 5-of-9 from the 3-point line on his way to 17 points. Brown added five rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes of action.
The Racers (1-0) get back on the court Friday when they host the Spalding Golden Eagles in a 7 p.m. tip.
