The UHA Lady Blazers controlled most of the second half against Madisonville Monday night. The problem was the Lady Maroons controlled most of the first half, and converted a couple of more opportunties in that half than the Lady Blazers did in the second half on their way to a 3-1 win at UHA.
The Lady Maroons got off to a quick start as Abigail Center found the net just 3:00 into the match putting Madisonville up 1-0.
Madisonville extended the lead to 2-0 when Center scored again at the 19:30 mark. Just under ten minutes later, UHA was called for a foul in the box. Kensley Zeiba drilled the penalty kick to push the lead out to 3-0.
UHA grabbed some momentum early in the second half. Lilly Strader drilled a shot with her left foot from the right front corner of the box at the 48:45 mark to cut the lead to 3-1. From that point on, for about the next 20 minutes, the Lady Blazers completely controlled the tempo of the match. UHA had several good looks at the net but could just not find a way to get the ball in.
The Lady Maroons down the stretch were able to do just enough to hold on for the 3-1 win.
UHA falls to 9-6, while Madisonville improves to 13-2.
