It took a while for the Caldwell County Lady Tigers to get going in their district matchup against Madisonville Thursday night. Once they did get in gear, it was pedal to the metal in the Lady Tigers four set win over the Lady Maroons at the CAB.

Madisonville gave Caldwell County its best “punch” out of the gate, jumping out to a 9-2 lead in the opening set. The Lady Maroons would extend the lead to 15-5 at one point. Caldwell County finally got their offense going and came roaring back. The Lady Tigers would take a brief lead before falling to the Lady Maroons 28-26.

That would be the last time Madisonvile would seriously threaten Caldwell County the rest of the night. The Lady Tigers won the second set 25-13. Caldwell County won the 3rd set 25-22, with the set not really being that close as the Lady Maroons had to use a late rally to cut into the margin. Caldwell County then closed out the match with a 25-15 win in the 4th set to take the match 3-1.

The Lady Tigers had a big night from Olivia Mitchell, who had 14 kills, 7 digs, and one ace. Sheadon Allen added 13 kills, 6 digs, and 6 aces. Kaitlyn Conway contributed to the effort with 8 kills.

Caldwell County now improves to 13-6, while Madisonville falls to 12-10.

The Lady Tigers will be the #1 seed in the 7th District tournament, as they finish 4-0 in district play.
