Caldwell County Lady Tiger volleyball coach Daniel Cortner was not particularly pleased with the way his team lost last Thursday in a straight set loss at Apollo. He was probably a little bit happier Tuesday night after his Lady Tigers swept Hopkins Central in a 7th District matchup at the CAB.
Caldwell County opened the first set 5-1, and they were never seriously threatened from that point on for the rest of the evening. The Lady Tigers won the first set 25-15. Caldwell County then steamrolled the Lady Storm in the final two sets 25-9 and 25-9 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
Olivia Mitchell had a monster night for Caldwell County with 17 kills, 5 aces, and 3 digs. Abby Griggs had 11 kills. Sheadon Allen also was big for the Lady Tigers, coming up with 10 kills, 2 aces, and 2 digs.
Caldwell County improves to 12-6 on the season, while Hopkins Central drops to 10-8.
The Lady Tigers return to action Thursday in another 7th District matchup at home against Madisonville.
Caldwell County also won the JV match 21-9 and 21-5.
