
Caldwell County shut down Henderson County’s ground game and found some success through the air in their 34-14 win over the Colonels Friday in Princeton.
Henderson County was held to 53 rushing yards, which is about 150 less than their season average.
Meanwhile, Caldwell County quarterback Joby Jaggers was 16-of-31 for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Oliver Parker had eight catches for 158 yards.
Caldwell County fell behind 7-0 on a Nick Cissell 8-yard touchdown reception, but bounced back to score 34 unanswered points. DeEric Hollowell had touchdown runs of 1 and 26 yards, while Jaggers threw touchdown passes of 8 yards to Oliver Parker and 29 yards to Travis Newsom.
The Tigers also scored a touchdown on defense when Tate VanHooser picked off a Skip Patterson pass and returned it 24 yards for a score.
Caldwell County (3-2) begins district play Friday when they travel to Paducah Tilghman (4-1). Both teams are ranked in the Class 3A top ten in several statewide polls and rankings.
