Gabe Board homered and doubled to back the pitching of Cameron Head as Lyon County Post 68 beat Shelbyville Post 37 by a score of 8-2 in the first round of the Kentucky American Legion Baseball Tournament in Louisa.
Board laced an RBI double as part of a five-run first inning. Ty Ramey and Brody Bridges also had RBI singles in the inning. Ramey added an RBI triple in the third inning to put Post 68 up 6-2.
Board ended the scoring with a two-run homer in the fifth inning to cap his two-hit, three-RBI day. Ramey also had two hits for Post 68, who tallied eight hits in the game.
Head pitched a complete game for the win, allowing eight hits and two earned runs. He struck out three and walked one.
Post 68 advances in the double-elimination tournament that continues Wednesday.
