Heritage Christian Advances to KCAA Softball Title Game

Heritage Christian Academy advanced to the championship game of the KCAA State Softball Tournament with a 16-7 win over Cornerstone Christian Friday in Somerset.

The Lady Warriors sent 14 batters to the plate in the decisive third inning that saw them score 10 runs. Nicole Holland had a 3-run double, and Courtney Allen added a two-run double in the inning. Heritage then held on a Cornerstone got to within 12-7. Heritage scored four times in the sixth inning to put the game away.

Holland had the big night at the plate with three hits and six RBIs, including a pair of doubles. Kaitlyn Kaetzel had three hits and an RBI, and Madison Powell added three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs.

Katie Ruth and Kinley Deason also had two hits.

Holland picked up the win in the circle, striking out 12 and giving up only two hits.

Heritage Christian will play for the state title Saturday at noon in Somerset, seeking the school’s first state softball state championship since 2015.
