Caldwell County’s Bryar Riley and Noah Brown combined to make 4 first-inning runs stand up in a 4-1 win over visiting Marshall County on Saturday. The Tigers win five of their last six to close the regular season and improve to 21-6 overall. Marshall County drops its second straight to slip to 18-10.
Gabe East, Dylan Gray and Shane Burns each had an RBI single in the first inning to stake the Tigers to a 4-0 lead. The Marshalls got 1 back in the top of the fourth, but the game would be stopped with no outs in the bottom of the inning for a Caldwell win.
Riley earned the win, allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts. Brown allowed two hits as well, walking two.
Brown was the only Tiger with multiple hits, going 2-2 with a run scored. Burns had a hit and 2 RBI, with Gray and East posting a hit and an RBI. Jase Felker, Bryce Thomas and Easton Thompson had a hit each.
Blaine Bizzle took the loss for the Marshalls, working one inning while allowing 4 runs on six hits. Jordan Riley was 1-1 with an RBI.
The Tigers face off with Hopkins County Central in the first round of the 7th District tournament on Tuesday at Dawson Springs. Caldwell won both regular-season meetings with the Storm, 11-4 in Morton’s Gap and 10-0 in Princeton.
