A night after the high of clinching the program’s first 1 seed in the 5th District Tournament, the Trigg County softball team came back down with a 10-0 loss at Marshall County on Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats slip to 20-11 with the loss, while the Lady Marshalls wins their third in a row to improve to 21-8 on the year.
The Lady Marshalls took control in the opening inning with 4 runs, cruising the rest of the way before closing out the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth to trigger the 10-run mercy rule.
Hannah Colbert took the loss for the Lady Wildcats, lasting 4.2 innings while yielding 8 runs, 5 earned, on nine hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Kara Southwood pitched the rest of the way, allowing 2 unearned runs on two hits. Autumn Durham had Trigg’s lone hit.
Aubree-Jo Kemp earned the win, working 3.0 perfect innings while striking-out three. Presley Jezik and Riley Piercefield each drove-in 2 runs for the Lady Marshalls.
Trigg County is set to close out the regular season on Friday when they welcome the 18-15 Russellville Lady Panthers to Cadiz.
