The Hopkinsville Tigers managed only two hits in an 11-1 road loss to Apollo on Friday night. The result drops the Tigers to 7-17 on the year, while the Eagles have won three of four and stand at 13-12 overall.
Apollo used a 6-run third inning to build a 10-1 lead before adding a final run in the bottom of the fifth to end the game by mercy rule.
Aaron Cosby took the loss, working 2.1 innings while allowing 7 runs on six hits with a couple of strikeouts and two walks. Caleb Bapp and John Duvall each had a hit for the Tigers, with Duvall driving-in the lone run.
Matthew Judd earned the win, going the distance while allowing a run on two hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Zach Greer and Gatlin Humphrey each drove-in 3 runs for Apollo.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday with a trip to Morton’s Gap to face the 4-15 Hopkins County Central Storm.
