The South Warren Lady Spartans scored in four of their five at bats Friday night on the way to a 10-3 six inning win over the Caldwell County Lady Tigers. The game was a part of the Best of the West event at Buchanon Park in Bowling Green.
Caldwell County missed an opportunity to get on top early, leaving the bases loaded after back to back doubles and a hit batter. South Warren did not miss out on their chance in the bottom of the inning as they scored two runs to take a 2-0 lead after one.
The Lady Tigers again loaded the bases in the 2nd inning but came away empty. The Lady Spartans responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead to 6-0. South Warren used two doubles, two walks, and a hit batter to score the runs.
Caldwell County got on the board in the top of the 3rd inning on an RBI triple by J’Aimee Burk.
South Warren got rolling again in the bottom of the 4th inning. The Lady Spartans took advantage of two Caldwell County errors to plate two more runs and extend their lead to 8-1.
The Lady Tigers tried to rally in the top of the 5th, scoring two runs to cut the South Warren lead to 8-3. Katie Franklin opened the inning with a triple and then scored when Mashea Glover cleared the centerfield fence with a two run homer.
South Warren added two insurance runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to push the lead back out to 10-3. The game was then called in the 6th inning.
Mashea Glover was 2-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Katie Franklin was 2-4 with a run scored. J’Aimee Burk was 1-3 with a triple and an RBI.
Katie Franklin went five innings for Caldwell County, giving up ten runs, seven earned, on 12 hits, striking out four and walking three.
